How I Work

Two practices, one purpose

Food and movement are equal partners in the way I work with clients — each reinforcing the other toward the same goal: a body that feels grounded, balanced, and ready for what comes next.

Qi Gong

Qi gong is an ancient practice that integrates physical postures/movements, breath and mental intention to refine the body's balance and energy. Sometimes the way we move or don't move, the way we breathe or hold our breath, and the daily postures we assume can be a large component of our well‑being. The regular practice of qi gong tunes our movements, breath, and energy to work together harmoniously, thus contributing to feeling grounded, balanced, and ready for what comes next in our day.

Food Energetics

Food is energy, and each food offers unique energetics to our bodies. Examining our food choices closely determines what messages we are sending to our bodies as we eat each day. Each food has a specific energy, a specific directionality, thermostatic nature, taste, color, and corresponds to specific organ/organs. I can provide the expertise to harness this energy and use it to offer support to the issues we experience in our bodies.

Even if you have acupuncture or other types of treatments on a regular basis, those treatments can be sabotaged if you are making the wrong food choices for your individual needs. Why throw money and time down the drain? Sound food choices form the basis of our well‑being.

We must strike a balance in our eating habits that promotes equilibrium within the body to create and maintain optimal vitality — the correct amounts of yin and yang energies, ascending and descending directionality, warmth, and nourishment for each organ.

Well‑being is strictly individual; no two people are the same and therefore will not present with the same challenges. The recommendations I offer are made according to what is going on in the body of an individual at the time of consultation. So, no two people will be given the exact same suggestions. This way of looking at lifestyle is not a one‑size‑fits‑all.

I experience daily health benefits as I choose, prepare, and eat my food, and my wish is to share my knowledge with you. My mission is to educate you about the specific energetics and properties of your food choices and the effects of the preparation methods you use. I aspire to empower each person to be able to make selections that are uniquely beneficial to them as they prepare their meals at home and choices to make when dining out. Helping others form responsible decisions in their eating habits is one of my passions.

Typically, an initial one‑on‑one session lasts around 1.5 hours. I will speak with you about your current lifestyle choices with a focus on what you are eating and how it is being prepared. My job is to pinpoint what choices might be keeping you stuck in your current situation and make recommendations that can help you experience better health. In addition to food suggestions, I often include qi gong to reinforce the nutritional advice I offer.

I can educate and empower you to make better lifestyle choices, including what goes into your bowl, your cup, and onto your plate. I welcome the opportunity to consult with you and help guide you in making discerning choices that will accommodate your individual needs.

Here's to your health!

What Are Clients Saying?

“Nadja is very knowledgeable, responsive, and passionate about Chinese Medicine. She lives and breathes the lifestyle she teaches and provides a personalized experience. I sought out Nadja during a time when I was looking to reduce inflammation in my body. She provided tongue readings and thoughtful lifestyle and food recommendations, including introducing warming hydrating foods like congee. She helped me to transform my diet, and I noticed significant changes in only a month! I am more hydrated, balanced, and thoughtful about my food choices now. If you're looking for a consultant to support your wellness journey, I highly recommend working with Nadja!”

Dr. Alexa Jackson Schlimmer

“I have suffered with various respiratory illnesses on and off for numerous years. (Perhaps attributable to second‑hand cigarette smoke in my childhood home and seasonal allergies.) Several times, these illnesses have morphed into full blown bronchitis/pneumonia. Nadja's advice during these times has been beneficial beyond belief. Not only does she recommend foods that are nourishing for the body and the healing process, but she explains how they should be prepared for optimal benefit (raw/cooked/soaked etc.) I highly recommend Nadja's expertise.”

Juli P. · North Carolina

“If you are looking for a knowledgeable coach/educator/consultant who can introduce you to Classical Chinese Medicine and guide you through many aspects of it — Nadja is a perfect person who can help you. Her knowledge, expertise, and experience will help you understand the basics and provide you with a detailed explanation of nutrition, suggesting what to buy, how to cook, what to avoid, and why. Nadja's recommendations helped my husband avoid medication and focus on lifestyle changes when his blood sugar became slightly elevated, and his doctor immediately recommended heavy‑duty medication. I highly recommend Nadja's services from my personal experience.”

A Client Story

“Nadja Ramsay's diverse skills have had an enormous positive impact on my life. Nadja uses a wide range of strategies to not only treat symptoms, but to get to the source of multi‑layered problems. She is incredibly knowledgeable, creative, and thoughtful in her approach; and she has an uncanny ability to see the connections between health and lifestyle. Nadja is very kind, accommodating, and generous. I am grateful every day to have benefitted from her wisdom. With her guidance, I've developed a deeper relationship with my physical and mental wellness. Here are several examples of Nadja's work with me:

After being diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, I was referred to a surgeon because a biopsy revealed several “suspicious” pre‑cancerous nodules. I was worried about the removal of my thyroid for many reasons, including the potential damage to my singing voice. Nadja listened to my concerns, asked questions that doctors never bothered with, and guided me along a path of nutrition, alternative medicine, and lifestyle changes that lowered my inflammation and made the surgery unnecessary. Years later I am cancer‑free, with drastically reduced inflammation in my thyroid!

Nadja assessed my symptoms and guided me successfully through full recovery of pneumonia. She gave me detailed instructions for nutrition, essential oils, respiratory exercises, and the use of a poultice. Nadja's wealth of knowledge and experience also helped me recover from lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and meniscus issues. She has been invaluable through many years of guidance in building wei qi (immunity) for my entire family, including during Covid.

Her advice and instruction for the care of my elderly father through his struggles with Parkinson's, multiple urinary tract infections, and Lewy Body dementia made his journey toward the end of his life more humane. She addressed the physical as well as emotional needs to help me navigate through the grief process. Nadja's expertise across a wide range of practices is powerful. I fully endorse, trust, and believe in her abilities.”
